The Becontree Wheelers membership is drawn mainly
from East London and South West Essex although we do have
members who live as far away as Manchester, Reading and
Norwich.
The club caters for all cycling disciplines. Our present strength lies in Time Trialling, where members have won Team prizes in a number of local events in the past few years. Club members meet by the bus stop outside Corbetts Tey cemetery
each Sunday morning for a gentle social ride. All members are welcome to
participate but they leave at 8:30 am sharp so don't be late. The length of the
ride and the route are generally agreed at the time. |

The popular Friday evening 10 mile Time Trial series is held on the E14A course. This is a 2 lap circuit of approximately 5 miles each lap. Young riders and novices will be able to ride a single lap until they are sufficiently confident to cover the full distance. Organised in an informal manner, members of other clubs affiliated to Cycling Time Trials are always welcome to enter on the line. The series also provides two separate competitions for club riders, one based on times and the other on finishing positions. For 2008 this series will be organised in partnership with Team Economic Energy. |

| In recent years, the club has organised a summer trip to France for a mixture of leisure cycling, good food, wine and companionship, with an opportunity to watch stages of the Tour De France thrown in. This has been held in conjunction with our friends the Epsom CC. |  |

The club is prominent in Cycling administration. In the past our members have served on local and national committees of British Cycling and local committees of Cycling Time Trials.
